I made a few attempts and ultimately chose this one... All in gimp and g'mic... Obviously crop, rotate, some (aggressive) color adjustments, dodge and burn, and some usm... That's about it as I recall..

some great entries so far!

elpolodiablo - love the vibrant blue in your shot

post_eos - really like that gritty finish too!

and there were some really creative crops and placements of the waves. so clever!!

here's my version. again, levels in faststone and then filtering in adobe photoshop 7.0.

going for a rubber stamp kind of impression this time.
