We had a very windy rain overnight. Looking out this morning with the sun just coming up over the mountains, these Sycamore trees really stood out. They have a real flaky bark which it seems to shed each year. The wind and rain last night took all the bark off all at once. Then with the sun shining on them this morning they really stood out. The pics don't quite do what I actually saw - need more practice at that!

Nice! I rarely see a sycamore here in Texas - it's probably too hot & dry for them. We have mesquite trees instead :P
Here's a survivor down by the lake the other morning:

I like this thread in that we can see different species from different parts of the country.

The Sycamore around here are found along river banks and swamps so they like it wet. Because of this they are very fast growing, and have a shallow root system in spongy ground - quick to grow but easy to fall.

I'm currently reading a book that takes place mainly in west Texas - the descriptions with the lack of trees is so different from where I live.

This shot caught my eye the other day, as it managed to include three trees, all with different coloured leaves, in one shot:

(Though I need to do something about those bright stop lights...)

Thank you Noelcmn. Beautiful golf course you have!

Here's an acer, just a few yards from the tree posted above, but this snapped a couple of days ago.

I like trees. Evergreen trees, oak trees, alder trees, birch trees, willow trees, monkey puzzle trees. I think trees have character, and are a wonderful part of our world.

I really like the Japanese Maple trees. So much so that I have planted 3 around my property. This one is in the yard.

I intend to plant more of these really neat trees.
