This old Elm tree at our farm is gone now, we estimated it was about 80 years old. I took this last Sunday and the tree was removed on Monday.
That's sad. Was the tree diseased/dying?

The buttonbush, or button willow is almost a tree

Yeah, the whole back side opposite the photo was dead and rot holes in the middle of the large branches. It was dying from the middle out like so many trees do. The good news is my Wife's cousin has a saw mill and we saved the main trunk of the tree, so the plan is to mill boards out of it and make something from it.

This tree was along a country road that was pretty lonely, I was able to stand on the road, with a tripod for about 10 minutes and not one vehicle came along, all while seeing all kinds of traffic on a state highway a half mile away.

We have some state highways in MO like that, where you can stand in the road and not see a car for 10 minutes (not that I am recommending that a person do that though).

Reminds me of a John Denver song.

Two trees, one dominated by branches, the other by its trunk.

"Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend"...Hmm makes me think of going to the farm and sittin' on a tractor an all that stuff. Oh and yes there are lots of trees there also:
