Some kind of Ficus growing in a bot garden. Some species have spectacular growth habits.

An ancient conifer (I think it's a pencil pine) on the shores of Lake St.Clair in the highlands of Tasmania. This is a remarkable place (and a World Heritage Area). The lake, Australia's deepest, was carved by a glacier. The rocks in the foreground show signs of gouging when they were carried and deposited by the glacier. The whole national park (Cradle Mountain-Lake St.Clair NP) abounds with unique species, many of them relics from Gondwana times (the super-continent consisting of what are now Australia, Zealandia, India, Africa, South America and Antarctica).

Old elm in Carp, Ontario Canada. Sadly, dutch elm disease is quickly destroying any and all of the majestic giants. Has to be my favourite tree.
