Edge of a forest in Alaska. Scan.Without a cleared trail it would be major challenge to make ten miles through this growth.

That tree definitely has a split personality

And two monarchs among lesser trees.

Southern Catalpa growing near Remington, VA. - a.k.a., "Indian cigar tree" - used to be a grannie's standard front-yard tree because of the cascades of fragrant white flowers. A particular species of moth, the "catalpa sphinx" requires the leaves of this species of tree to survive the caterpillar stage - "catalpa worms" are the preferred bait for some kinds of fishing (smallmouth bass love'em) and some folks planted the trees specifically to have a ready supply of high quality fish-bait.
