Actually, this vine has 5 leaves, so it is probably Virginia creeper and not the dangerous poison ivy which has 3 leaves! I learned about poison ivy the hard way so am always on the lookout for it!
I will insert that poison ivy and Virginia creeper commonly grow together, so the latter which is very easy to identify , especially because of its distinctive leaves, can serve as a warning for the poisonous vine.

Leaves of three let it be, leaves of five let it thrive!

You are correct, sir! I'd forgotten that old adage. Poison ivy and Virginia Creeper both thrive in that part of Texas.

Out here the poison ivy vines can be as thick as a healthy man’s arm, and I have seen them growing like trees with the help of a wire fence!

A small tree wearing its Autumn splendor, and perhaps admiring its reflection in the stream.

Colors starting to turn on this tree...not sure of the type, it's a small-leaf N. Texas tree.

Tall pines in the Pacific NW that seem to be victims of a burn SCAN from the film era.

A perspective up the trunk of a tall pine, similar to other recently posted tree images. Somewhere in Washington State. Scan from decades ago. BTW: A survey by helicopter has discovered that in Oregon about one million acres of trees such as this one have died in part as a consequence of the recent prolonged drought in the West. It will take a long time to regrow a million acres of trees such as this, if it ever happens.

This tree has a leaky faucet.

Does anyone know what causes this?
