That's nice Paul. Could you send me a frost-intolerant vine from your area that will grow fast enough to embrace, strangle and kill() all the Oriental bittersweet vines in our yard before Autumn sets in? That #$$!%^&Q^ bittersweet has invaded everything here except the lawn.

Thanks for the website but, we have been working to rid our yard of this tenacious. noxious plant for some time. I have pulled them up by the roots, but if even a tiny bit of root breaks off and is left in the ground, which happens essentially 100% of the time, that root fragment will generate new growth. Of late I've been snipping them off then treating the stubs with stump & vine killer. Uncertain so far how effective that will be, and it is difficult to apply to some of the growth. Some of the vines are twenty feet or more long but at ground level have only the diameter of two or three toothpicks. Hard to apply the vine killer to a stump that small. Sometimes I leave a longer piece then bend it over to dip the end into the fluid. It's tiresome. Under the lilacs there were 30 or 40 places where bittersweet vines emerged from the ground.

Thank you for commenting.
At the time I was shooting RAW+ and keeping most of them, thinking someday I see something worth editing. The third one would have been deleted otherwise.

I have walked by these old trees many times before and never noticed their "feet".

I envy you southerns with those beautiful crepe myrtles. I've seen them in bloom and they are a sight. We have nothing quite like them in frosty MessyChewBits, although the redbuds, flowering crab apples, and regular apple trees are a treat. There are several trees that get covered with white blossoms. Cornus kousa is in flower at the moment, and there are several specimens nearby that are eye-catching trees.Must try to get a picture before the flowers drop off.
