A tree that couldn't take it any more - - it just snapped. Fell right in the middle of a trail so a new path has developed around it.

Some very bare trees along a road that's lined with hydrangeas in bloom. A stark conreast.
Really nice composition Walter

My comment back seems to have missed being posted, but I'll apologize in the event it appears and this post ends up repeating it.

Were I to take a chainsaw to all the trees that partially block the trails where we walk, I'd have weeks of work. Some are step or climb over, some are duck under, and some such as the one in my post are find-a-way-around. Horseback riders have been using the new path around the tree pictured for some time. As for other trails, I think that snowmobilers who use them routinely get together to clear off fallen trees to keep those trails passable and safe for their sport. There are several trails with awkward trees across them that I expect will receive attention before November.
