I can see that, but it's out in the woods of a wildlife sanctuary - is not now and never was anywhere near a house, just in some woods bordering an agricultural field. I suspect it grew up against an iron fence post, a well pipe or something of that sort. There are some massive, inscrutable iron machinery parts on the ground near it.

The trees have more color today than a few days back when this picture was taken. I think that peak color is still developing, a little later than usual.

Trees on the town commons. Some grass has been exposed by a leaf-blower that was working on clearing the fallen leaves.
