Strange, but true...we actually have red maples here in Miami. No lie! There's apparently a southern fringe population of red maples that grows this far south... there are several dozen of them in a local Walmart parking lot. We shop there regularly...I'll have to take the camera with me and document them. Red maples in Miami!

You only need to see the very base of the trunk to know this tree stands tall in the woods.
