My first post to the spider thread! Eight legs good, six legs dinner!

I thought at first that I had some sort of slow speed synch thing happening with a slight double image or ghosting caught by a second curtain flash. On close inspection of several shots, I realized that I had photographed a spider in the process of shedding its skin. Note the "second set" of eyes above the actual, dark eyes. K-S2, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro at f8, built in flash w/ Pringles can diffuser/extender.

Top-notch capture.

Some close-up portraits taken with a reversed Kinotel 8mm movie camera lens on extension.

A jumper,

and a crab (I think).

A zebra jumping spider,

Argiope aurantia (Black and Yellow Garden Spider),

Sparassid (?) with crane fly.

This little jumping spider was having a great day. It caught a fly for lunch, and a couple of hours later, was happily munching on a different species of spider for afternoon tea !! K-3 and the stunning 100 f2.8 macro WR. Thanks for having a look.

Thanks! It's a fun little lens to play with and when I do things right on my end, it gives surprisingly good results.

Looks like there's another meal under the spider. Seems to be something other than it's first insect dinner. Busy little critter!

Yes, I am pretty sure the spider that became the meal was happily enjoying its own catch at the time of the attack !!

While traveling out west in the US state of Arizona I spotted this big spider. Obviously this guy had no fear of getting bitten by it
