Thanks for that Info! There were at least four or five giant webs along this bridge I walked over, each with a large spider sitting in the middle. I did assume they were orb weavers with the elongated abdomen, but I didn't even attempt to look it up. The particular place I was at had a lot of ways for insects to die, including these spiders, birds, venus fly traps, pitcher plants, sundew, and my hand slapping mosquitos before I went and got a can of insect repellant.
