I was hoping to see a few nasties like funnel web spiders. There's none in my garden (thank goodness). Plenty of red backs but no funnel webs.

First 2 shots are with 18-55 kit lens, onboard flash with portal open on the hood.

I think those first 2 are a grass spiders if anyone can confirm it would make my household more at ease- At first I thought hobo spiders, but then I compaired online.

Not sure what they are but they are harmless. Only 3 in the US to worry about, Black Widow, Brown Recluse, both deadly, and Tarantula, no worse than a bee sting usually. Those are none of the dangerous ones. I don't have my book with me so I can't look them up but I do know they are not Black Widow, Brown Recluse or Tarantula.

Got a few the past couple of days using a Pentax 50mm f1.7 with 45mm of extension tubes. fun trying to get close enough and get good focus, but with flash it does a great job. These are no more than 1/4 inch long.

OK correction, this one is a little over 1/4 inch...but not much

Thanks Billy. Some people consider the hobo aggressive and dangerous to people. Seems there is some debate about this, but I'm certainly not loosing any sleep over having them in my basement.

Nice shots of the jumping spider, they're always real camera shy for me.

Camera shy for me too, you have to move slow and sit there for a few minutes sometimes, they'll come back out...the ones above didn't give me much trouble though.

Not sure what this one is, (common garden spider?) but it's just outside our front door. This was my first real outing that I used my Vivitar 70-210/3.5 that I got along with several other lenses. I also had a 31mm tube and shot this at around the 70-90mm range at f/16 with onboard flash. 2nd shot is a 100% crop of the first.
