I love the orchard spiders. That is a beautiful one and nice shots. I had one I could not get close to a few pictures back. Now in another corner are 3 tiny ones. 1 is building where I think I can get a good shot. Its too tiny yet. I took a shot today just to blow up to see its colors.

Thanks. I like the metallic flecks on the abdomen and the combs on innermost segments the last pair of legs. Some of my earliest, "serious" macro efforts from a few years ago were with an orchard spider. I think my technique has improved since then. This one is smaller, but I'm hoping it will grow. Also hoping I can get shots of its eyes! Not so easy given its preferred resting orientation beneath its horizontal orb web. Trying to get a lens under the edge without disturbing the web would be very hard. I will look for openings and opportunities...

Thanks for the complement. Your second image is a notable capture. Those spiders with very long legs are a difficult subject. I never seem to get the full length of the legs as well in focus as you have in that image.

The dewdrop spider i have been documenting eating its host moved. I found it had traveled from its tree to the washing machine awaning. Both places about 170cm up and across an open space about 2 meters.

I'd take that one back to where you got it. It's short a leg.

It is always a gamble when you get a spider secondhand.
