PP Challenge 103

This shot is from 2009, taken with a K100D plus kit lens at 18mm F8. I just had some fun a couple days ago re-editing it, so I thought I'd give you all the chance to have a go with it too, because I think it is an image that has potential for this kind of challenge... It was originally (and poorly) taken as a 3 shot [0/-2/+2] HDR attempt (hand-held), but it was overexposed to begin with so the -2 shot is actually the best exposure... So the -2 shot is the one being displayed below. Nevertheless, I give you the option to use any combination of these three images that you want. (Just to be clear, this means you can use any one image, or any combination of the three.) I know from my past efforts with these 3 images that a reasonably well aligned HDR composite can be achieved using all three files, but if you've ever made a similar attempt before (HDR from hand-held shots), then you know how it can go... And this was with the K100D ('thwack!" "thwack!" "thwack!")

As usual, there are no rules for this challenge and no restrictions on the post processing liberties you may take.

This challenge will end 1 week from today (July 21st) in the evening at some point when I get around to it California time.

Links to download the pictures below:

Challenge 103 Raw (PEF) (the best exposure)

Challenge 103 JPEG

Challenge 103 ZIP (All 3 shots plus the jpeg)

Have fun and good luck to all!

I'm a firm believer of enhancing shots without overdoing the effects... I could have brought out the shadows more in the interior of the car but I felt it would have not added anything to the image.

I'll play. Used the under exposed PEF, processed in Lightroom only.

My original entry was downloaded to LR, processed in PSP X5 and processed in Retro Lab.
I took it back to PSP X5 and added a displacement mapping effect which added some graphic dynamism.

I’m a fan of natural-looking DRIs. I can’t afford an HDR-monitor. Developed the PEF to [-1|±0|+1] 16-bit TIFFs, merged and tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 4.2.7.

As someone who has owned a K100DS I too remember that sensor with fondness. I remember absolutely magical captures with that camera. Maybe I have rose colored glasses of the camera because it was my first DSLR, but my only two PPG photos were taken with it.... That being said here is my contribution. I'll let you decide if it is HDR or not

Let's go high-key-ish. Too many distractions from the insanely wonderful grungy rail-car.

Processed the source images as an HDR. Added more rust to the car, via. another image, Distorted the background. Cropped the image.

I think you need to back this statement up with an entry.
