Found this to be a bit of a curiosity.
The geology of that part of the country is unique, isn't it? Have you ever been in the huge limestone caves they use for underground storage?

I haven't been in those, but in my younger years I did quite a bit of caving in Missouri, mostly in the southeast and south-central parts of the state and some in Arkansas. I have tons of chromes from Missouri caves, just need to work on scanning them. I have plans to set up a scanning system, just haven't gotten 'round to it.

As you can see, the Royal Society for Putting Things on Top of Other Things passed through MessyChewbits on its tour of the USA. They had divided into two competing groups. The one that was working on the cairn at left has been penalized and must sleep in single beds instead of bunk beds for the duration of the trip.

I notice the other cairn has its head bowed in sorrowful respect...

I thought it was looking down on its fallen companion and competitor with contempt.

We need to find someone that speaks rock language. Just think of all the stories we would hear

How do I join? I hope British citizenship is not a requirement, perhaps I could be an "agent at large".

Five weeks without a post on this interesting thread. Maybe I can revitalize interest with this outcrop.

We don't have a lot of rocks around here, but here's a few. Taken November 2014 at the lake:

This is actually a small volcanic vent. Lava bubbling out created a spatter cone on the edge of which I'm standing to take this ultra-wide image.
