Perhaps less bones than, let's call it "upchuck" (there are more explicit and colorful terms). Lava bombs, similar to what struck that tour boat in Hawaii.

Carlsbad Caverns. Not sure if these are Earth's bones or intestines, or maybe intestinal contents. A persistent problem with photographs of places such as this = nothing to give scale. At this spot, no way a tourist could stand somewhere to be included in the picture.
