I really enjoy going through this thread from time to time, recognizing a surprising number of familiar places around the world, which I've been to, and admiring others and even interesting places I could have seen, but I do not remember. Please keep those coming!

I may have posted a picture of those 'rocks' before before - but definitely not this one and not since I revisited the post-processing for printing. Red sandstone in a small mountain range in eastern Germany, close to the Polish/German/Czech triangle.

Glad to see someone who knows about the Fall Line. Getting some students in geology courses to appreciate it's meaning geologically and historically was like teaching cinder blocks to skip rope.

Living just to one side of it as I do, it's a feature of note, both because of my superficial interest in geology, and for how it shapes the land and hence the scenic possibilities for photography. I live in the Durham Triassic Basin, where local creeks have names such as Sandy Creek and Mud Creek (although still just above the Fall Line). A mile north the land takes on a totally different character in Piedmont uplands of the Carolina Terrane, where I do most of my local walking and photography.

Impression left by the spine on a hadrosaur in the bones of the earth. Makoshika State Park in Glendive, Montana. There are also areas in the park where you can see the K-T Boundary. It is a geologically interesting place to visit.
