Technically I am a retired paleontologist whose specialty was dinosaurs. Two observations: 1) there are several thousand genera of dinosaurs known, but when it comes to a popular representation of one, Tyrannosaurus outnumbers all the others combined. 2) when in a movies/cartoon a Tyrannosaurus is about to eat someone or something, it first opens its mouth and roars. That's probably why it's extinct. No successful carnivore hesitates in order to make loud noises before it captures the prey.
But according to the movies all prey immediately froze and stood paralyzed while it roared and looked ferocious, so maybe it was an effective strategy.

Even the people in the movies stand there with their mouths open instead of running.

Maybe as with hippos, they're hoping to back it down by having a bigger gape - - - I would NOT recommend that strategy.

That's a great spot, worth a visit were I to be anywhere near.

Two big rounded pieces of the bones of the Earth. These look similar to the boulder in an image I posted above, but while I strongly suspect that one is a glacial erratic, I think these formed pretty close to where they now reside.
