Just a glacial erratic on an alvar area north of Toronto - sometimes harsh sunshine isn't such a bad thing. Very shallow soil over limestone, never ploughed, ranch land, a really interesting area for birds, wildflowers, insects....

Big rocks at at spot called Bear Caves, AR. In the second image M is trying to spot some petroglyphs that are supposed to be on the underside of the overhanging rocks at this point. This little spot is great for kids with a little imagination, some curiosity and plenty of energy.

Earth's bones are covered by dense tropic growth over much of Hawaii, but there are also places where those rocky bones are almost the only thing in sight.

Stranger things lurking inside...
To give a perspective, those junipers are about 10m (30ft) tall.
