Full Frontal

I like this picture. The light, the colors. Its one of the few places we actually stopped at last year, instead of from the passenger window! I hope you like it too. Taken with the K5 and 35mm.

Well done everyone! Keep 'em coming!

River Pothole River potholes are interesting features. Some can be large enough to swallow a car.

Good idea to revive this thread somewhat.

An older one from Pilansberg Game Reserve. Peeking Leopard Cub, high up on the rocky outcrop.

Mom was not far away.

Are you saying that it was only somewhat of a good idea to revive the thread, or that I was only somewhat successful in reviving the thread? You're still mad at me for calling that tapir "ugly," aren't you?

Seriously, though, that's a cute little leopard! That first shot's a stunner, too. Is that lady a friend of yours?

More Arizona bones, far to the east this time. I know this thread is about rocks, but all the trees in this area are skeletons, too.

I am saying both-and more besides-like good timing, and and being caught between a rocks and a hard places And OH YES, I am still mad at you-The Tapir remains unaffected by this, but that is besides the point
That lady and the jumper just happened to be there- a popular little nature reserve not far from where I live called "Little Falls Nature Reserve". Little being in reference to the much larger (and more popular) Witpoortjie Water Falls, located in Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens a few kilometers away.
Quite a deep pool, and young people love jumping of the rockface above, which is what that fellow was doing. I'm sorry, I should have posted an image without anybody in it-so here it is

Here's the little falls.

This one from the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.

I'm enjoying the photos in this thread very much. Great shots!

Here are some very old gneiss, at about 1100 million years of age. Erosion from the river that's (not well presented) in the background has rounded the edges of portions of the exposure, while the passage of time has led to differential erosion, meaning some minerals have worn away more quickly then others, leading to a highly textured rock surface.

Almost as Old as the Earth
