Terrific picture. Excellent composition. Did you use a polarizing filter, create the depth in the sky in postprocessing, or was it just like that?
It was basically like that but I did a little post processing to give the clouds a little pop. It was a perfect day.

Edinburgh Castle sits atop Castle Rock, an extinct volcano.

A view from another angle. It's difficult to tell where the rock stops and the castle begins.

Try it now. Sometime if I make changes in the photo posted on Flickr the image does not show here on PF even though the link works. I just resaved it in my post.

Yup! There it is. A somewhat mystical and mysterious treatment.

We visited all the parks across southern Utah and unexpectedly got in free on the 100th anniversary of the NPS. Astoundingly beautiful country. Took several shots from the exact place as your first image of Canyonlands. BIG place. Exploring more deeply takes special thought and a special vehicle. You climbed up to Delicate Arch. We didn't have the time, so all my images are from below.

Nice Work!

My wife is a geologist so southern Utah, Arizona and Nevada were heaven for her, even I had to agree that the geology was amazing.

The climb up to Delicate Arch was challenging but worth it because I had to piggy back a 7 year old (with tired legs) most of the way and it was still over 110 degrees late in the day.

I posted this image before but I will share it here being it fits the theme. Just some beach rocks I shot while experimenting with long exposure.

Is it necessary to mention this Bone-of-the-Earth is Uluru? On this morning, from the multi-level viewing platform constructed for tourists, the sky was overcast so the color was a muted purple.
