Technically I am a retired paleontologist whose specialty was dinosaurs. Two observations: 1) there are several thousand genera of dinosaurs known, but when it comes to a popular representation of one, Tyrannosaurus outnumbers all the others combined. 2) when in a movies/cartoon a Tyrannosaurus is about to eat someone or something, it first opens its mouth and roars. That's probably why it's extinct. No successful carnivore hesitates in order to make loud noises before it captures the prey.

Fragments of Earth's bones that have been broken and tumbled about for a long time, but no where near as long as they lay hidden.

Balanced Rock, located near Lee's Ferry, Colorado River.
The pedestal the boulder is resting on is about 3m in height, so it's quite a large boulder. I can just imagine some college frats trying to push it over...

When building a castle and there are rocks in the way, just build around them. This is at the top of Edinburgh Castle.

This is a re-post from several years ago. There's a climber scaling this exposed bit of the Earth's bones. If you cannot spot him in the first image, the second image is a crop.

But according to the movies all prey immediately froze and stood paralyzed while it roared and looked ferocious, so maybe it was an effective strategy.

Even the people in the movies stand there with their mouths open instead of running.
