I thought perhaps there was a clam at the bottom of the hole.

I do have a lot of prints and chromes from before 1990, but have not had time to do any scanning (I have plans to set up a slide scanner, its on the "to do" list). Anyway here is one from 1979. This was a Boy Scout trip to Shiloh Military Park. The camera was a Mamiya Sekor 500TL and the 50mm lens I had with it. Film was Tri-X Pan.

Here's another one I dug out. This is a "handheld video game" from 1980. Pretty washed out photo, oh well. Camera was probably an Olympus OM-1 and a 50mm f/1.8, film was Tri-X.

Here are a couple I took back around 1980 at a swap meet at Summit Point Md. I almost always shot black and white and processed my own film, but this time I shot a roll of color print film and sent it out for processing. At the time I used a Pentax SP1000. I had two lenses, a 55 f/2.0 and a 105 f/2.8. I still use the lenses on a Fujifilm X-T20 body.

EDIT - I found the originals and they were taken at a swap meet at Olney MD, 5/21/89, not at Summit Point, WV.

BSA Gold Stars.

The only thing that could hold a candle to a Gold Star, in my mind - a Norton International.

Here's one from around 1973. From the grain, almost certainly Tri-X. My camera at the time would have been a brand-new SP1000 that cost an arm and a leg - at least it seemed that way to a boy in his early teens who had to save the money at $1.50 an hour. My friend the guitar player had a Nikkormat FT.

Gagnonville, Quebec late 1970s...Kodak Pocket Instamatic 110; my first foray into photography. This town was a mining town and no longer even exists. Worked up there as a student on a survey team.

After WWII, Dad bought a plane and started bush flying so this would be late 40s or early 50s. That is Dad in the middle with his plane in the background. Location? Probably Northern Alberta, Canada

Heh, good catch. Was that "shaker" hood scoop an option or an aftermarket addition?

That was standard on a Trans Am.

Unfortunately, it was long gone by the time I made an appearance. Still, I was lucky enough to fly with him a few times.

Cool! I can't complain - my Dad was the managing director of a company which published a car magazine, so we got to try lots of different cars.

I had a friend, Rusty, who built bikes, mostly European, and BSAs were his favorites. He built one for me, a 1965 Spitfire detuned with Thunderbolt low-compression heads and single carb, which I still have. He built this one for another friend, and I think this is a Lightning, though the tank looks like the Spitfire fiberglass model. Rusty didn't do restorations, he combined parts to keep the bikes on the road.

This picture is from around 1989. I'm really impressed by how well these old slides have held up. I borrowed an Epson Perfection V550 Photo Scanner to do a service-club project, and am scanning a few of my old slides while the machine is around. All I am doing is correcting the levels and adding a tad of unsharp mask.

That's a nice looking old BSA. About your old slides, are they Kodachrome or E-6s of some sort? I have some E-6s that are getting up in years now, and I'm gratified to see that, for the most part, they're aging gracefully. Some I've digitized and color corrected, which has definitely helped. Part of an archival process, the way I see it.
