I have not found that....slide scanning with the V600 seems stellar

WW2, Dad is the guy on the far right. He was in the 425 Squadron (Les Alouettes). Not sure what is going on here; some sort of presentation?

At least with the V600...

My plan is to put together a setup using a macro lens and DSLR. I have heard the V600 is a great choice, tho. More than likely I will try different methods once I get into it.

I can recommend the macro lens with DSLR approach. I started duping my slides with my Canon DSLR and a Nikon 55mm f/3.5 macro, then got a Sony with a lot more megapixels -- a NEX 7 -- and started using it with the 55/3.5 Nikkor. Now I use an AIs 55/2.8 macro with my NEX 7. I illuminate the slide with a flash set on a stand, dialed down to a small fraction of total output -- 1/16 usually. Even with the relatively low 10.1mp of my Canon, it was a big improvement over my Epson flatbed.

Pentax ME Super and MEII Winder (oh I so wanted that winder). SMC-M 50mm F2 and some Fujichrome tranny film.

The lovely colour is down to a Cokin tobacco filter and possibly a grey grad for good measure. Cokin was quite the thing at the time. Easy to laugh at now but for me at least that (and being film) it gives me a real nostalgia buzz. That may also be due to it being my first sojourn abroad. 1981 - Lac Leman -Geneva. I was 23 :-)

I bought and got refurbed a replacement ME Super, the original having died in the 90s. The MEII Winder I had a carried on working until I put it on the refurbed ME-S. Boo-Hoo - I'd kept it for 30 years. Now too cheap to be worth repairing.

Shot on Kodak color film Christmas 1980 (probably 100ASA color film), with a Ricoh XR2S, with a Pentax M40-80mm lens.

Copied with a Pentax K5IIs, A50mm f1.7 lens, a Pentax Auto Bellows M and Slide Copier For Auto Bellows M.

The image has an unexpected layer of meaning that is explained on the flickr page.

A staged debrief after a mission? The arrangement of the people so everyone is visible is very deliberate. I love the nose artwork on the plane.

The patch is a great reminder how dangerous those missions could be. Dad and his crew were lucky, I don't think in all his missions anyone was ever injured.

Some of the pieces in the War Memorial here in Canberra have battle damage left in place. Is the plane a Halifax? Anyway, that's a lot of missions. The Lancaster here in Canberra flew more, but it was unbelievably lucky. Was it a French crew, or a Quebecois crew?
