Godolphin House, Cornwall - an image taken on slide film in the 1970s, around the time the house was used as "Trenwith" in the first 1970s series of Poldark. This was before it was taken over by the National Trust(2007). Probably taken using Spotmatic II.

The things one learns on the Pentax Forums! I was unaware that the BBC did an earlier version of Poldark. I wonder if the video is archived somewhere.

Yes, and the earlier version is available to buy. although some scenes have been deleted. I've never searched, but no doubt it'll be available on the web somewhere. We were fortunate enough to stumble across the filming of the second season, in 1976 I think, at Botallack. I have an album of photos on Flickr(# 9932). We met Robin Ellis, who played Ross Poldark, a few years ago at a book signing in Truro, and I gave him a few prints. This address should take you to YouTube Ep 1, season 1 :-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXrD24TaQec

When the new version was started, we learnt about it and we spent 3 days at Botallack watching the filming and met the new "Ross", another evening at Gunwalloe watching the wrecking scene being filmed, and watched again in later years, but security was much tighter. Again, there is an album on Flickr(#9931).

As you would expect the recent version is much more polished and the earlier one looks dated, but at the time it was incredibly popular with church service times being changed in some places so as not to conflict.

The filming of "Poldark" at Botallack, Cornwall, in 1976. "The Crowns" mines down on the cliff form one of the iconic views of Cornwall.
The indentation in the ground to the right of the path down to The Crowns - middle right of the photo - is where the exit from the mine was constructed - see next photo. Photos probably taken on SPII.

The escape route from the mine constructed in an indentation in the ground to the right of the path down to "The Crowns" mines - shown in previous photo.

I've been sorting through some old slides today. This was taken by my father around 1970 on Agfacolor. I like the composition, and the mini-skirt! It now eeems amazing that was normal wear for younger women at the time.

"Salt Cellar Hill", Porthleven, Cornwall. Image originally taken on slide film in the mid-1970s. Possibly taken on Pentax SPII.

Fascinating shot. Is the fishing net to catch the old folks when they slip?

In that case it wouldn't be a fishing net, rather a safety net.

True, the current arrangement looks more like a safety hazard.

Flying Scotsman - having been lifted at Liverpool from the ship bringing the loco back from the USA, the loco is about to touch down on English soil for the first time since 1969. Photo taken February 1973 using Pentax SPII.

And the whole thing lifted with two straps (or whatever the appropriate term is)? Amazing.
