Show those old photos from before 1990

There are many fascinating old photos lingering in slide trays or dusty albums. They can be fascinating for several reasons. First of all, they are an historical record. They also show what life was like by both the subject chosen and the equipment used. Things are in rapid flux these days, and one is often stunned by an early picture that showed a different world. Please show us your old pictures, and a modern comparison if available, to show the changes..
To start off, here is a picture taken in 1961 South Africa, with a Retinette view finder and Kodachrome 10 ASA. These folks were dancing on the corner opposite our house in Pretoria. They had an old wind-up gramophone which is difficult to see in the background. A remarkable happy group considering the restrictions they faced in their lives. And notice they are better dressed than the Walmart crowd despite their relative poverty. (See first post or the link just below.)

Portuguese Timor in 1966. Retinette and Agfa negative. Colours on Agfa were off. I think the film I bought there was old. As you may know, Timor was invaded by Indonesia a few years later amidst much blood shed. A further war ensued to gain their independence. This picture was from a more peaceful colonial time.

Sydney's Skyline was very different in 1961. No opera house or high rises. Kodak Retinette 1a

I must be the only old photographer here, so here is another historic photo. Vancouver airport in March 1968, Kodak Retinette 1a through the passenger window of a DC8. This one needed help in PP.

How air travel used to be. Took this one with my Retinette just before boarding at Jan Smuts in South Africa in 1961.

Odd that you picked 1990, as that was the year I was born. Obviously, I have nothing to contribute, but I am enjoying your shots from a time I never experienced.

Thanks for the comments, because it can be such a shame for pictures to be forgotten.
Here is a couple from 1961 taken from a Super Constellation. The place is the Cocos Islands, under Australian control. They are located NW of Australia, and have been in the new lately with people smugglers. Back in the piston engine days, it was a refueling stop between South Africa and Australia. Camera was a Kodak Retinette 1a with Kodachrome 10

I've taken a few out the windows of airplanes, but none as good as that. And they were all jets.

This is all I know about Kodachrome:

These were different times indeed.

Often, to go back and photograph the same scene at a later date, the changes are striking. Compare this 1961 shot of Circular Quay in Sydney with one in 2012, half a century later. Notice the town hall on the early picture, just above the ferry. Try to spot it in the later picture.

Well then you will never miss it. Imagine only 10 ASA and an f3.5 lens, and a camera with only four speeds 1/30 to 1/250, and you had limited options. The slides over half a century old are holding up well, although some have traces of fungus on them - which is no fault of the film. Kodachrome never faded as did many other slide films. They are as brilliant as the day they were processed.
here is another shot that shows Victoria Harbour (BC Canada) in 1977. Pentax MX and 55/1.8, taken from the open window of my Citabria. I don;t have an updated photo, but know the changes are many.

I was hoping to see the old stuff from others. Am I the only old chappie here?
This one brings back memories from 1961. It was my very first roll of Kodachrome 10 through what was then my new Kodak Retinette. A simple viewfinder with speeds 30 to 250, and an f3.5 lens. Focus was guesswork, as was exposure. This was our house maid Betty, who was happy to have her picture taken. The dog got into the act as well.

OK, a couple I recently projected onto a screen to photograph for a correspondent. There were taken at Moree Satellite Earth Station in Australia in early 1968 - with my new Spotmatic with 55mm f1.8 lens (I couldn't afford the 1.4). I was a callow 20 year old tech there. We would communicate with Brewster Satellite Earth Station in Washington to provide the comms from the first Apollo mission to the moon in 1969.

The first is me in the hatchway to the low noise receiver room in the antenna.

The earth station (still under construction):

You can see the access hatch from the first image quite clearly here:

This is Ceduna Satellite Earth Station in South Australia, taken in 1970 with my Spotmatic (I was transferred to Ceduna in Nov '69)
