Maybe this should go on the abstracts thread, but it isn't really an abstract. It's an attempt to rescue an image that didn't have the "snap" I wanted in the original.

I am sure this is an indigenous Moraea polystachya, Iris family. They are appearing all over Klooffendal nature reserve, and i have seen them elsewhere as well. Pretty flower!

The scraggliness of this flower is characteristic. I cannot recall the name but will try to track it down. There's a lot blooming some places where we do our AM walk.

Another example of numerous tiny flowers gathering to make a big display. I'l wager the number of blossoms here is into the thousands.
