Mountain laurel has just exploded into bloom over the past four days. One woodland trail we take has a clearing cut through for a power line, and the laurels grow profusely there. It's a treat to emerge from the darker woods into the clearing below the wires and find these bushes in full bloom.

Here and there we'll still find a good-looking lady slipper, but the majority have withered to some degree,

Both the annuals in our planters and the wildflowers on the hillside behind our house are really coming into their glory.
