That is a wonderful plant. I think I've planted clematis to climb an arbor over our well at least four times, and each of them died within three years.

Thank you. I have about sixty clematis in eight different flower beds. They need a well drained area and I like to make a large hole and fill in with a mixture of ground pine needles and potting soil. They survive year one, creep the second year, and climb in the third year, then explode in years 4 and 5.

Rhodora now in bloom. An enchanting bush to come upon in a shady woodland.

Some big ones from our garden

Taken with 645Z and Pentax 67 55mm f 4.0--great lens for flowers because of sharpness, color fidelity, and short MFD. These shots filled frame without cropping.

ADDED NOTE: No cropping except for slight framing adjustments.

Lady slipper (AKA moccasin flower). One particular place we regularly walk has scores and scores of these blooming. Quite magical.

Modest-size flowers in big clusters on a big bush. One of the rhododendrons we planted about 1981 along the driveway's retaining wall built when we put an addition onto the house. Local rhododendrons are breathtaking with blossoms this year, but if you look closely you may see some leaves brown and curled and very dead. Conditions in January were very harsh for these bushes and many lost nearly all of their foliage which normally stays green and survives the winter. Another rhodo on the far side of the driveway has lost almost all of its leaves, but it has flower buds close to open.

Couple of big ones

Our main garden attractions at the moment are peonies and clematis--here are a couple of examples.

A patch of daisy fleabane in our yard. Large patches of this flower have come up in different areas of the yard for many decades. I always mow around them until the blooming is done. There are some buttercups mixed in.

I really must post most of the remaining lady slipper images. So many this year I got carried away during our AM walks taking pictures of them.
