Ivan, your garden is gorgeous!

This is Mucuna sloanei, sometimes called "hamburger bean" because the seed capsules look like small hamburgers (no kidding!), but they have very fine, stinging hairs. Not to be touched with bare hands! The plant is a vine, the flowers are pollinated by bats. Sometimes called "yellow jade", it is distantly related to the so-called "jade vine".

No worries, the Mucuna flowers are fine to touch, it's the "hamburger" seed pods that are prickly. This vine, which is on my former employer's property, did actually produce a few of the seed pods, and I learned the hard way that one doesn't touch them bare-handed . But they are interesting, even so. Sorry I don't have any images of the pods, but a Google search on "mucuna sloanei" will turn up a few.

Cattleya walkeriana v. coerulea, the "blue" form of C. walkeriana. This is about as "blue" as cattleya orchids get. Normal form of this species is pink, less commonly, white.

Brassavola nodosa, "lady of the night" blooming out in the garden. The flowers are unbelievably fragrant after dark, hence the nickname. These perfume the entire side and back yards...
