Public Buildings

This is for photos of building that are owned and used by the government, any level of government. You can also post photos of former government building but you need to state that. Courthouses, jails, palaces, forts, schools. Just no private buildings, unless they had a previous use of public. And please tell us what and where they are.

This is the Ohio Statehouse, located in Columbus, Ohio. The tall building in the background of the first photo is the Rhodes State Office Tower.

What the heck...I'll play along. Here's Florida's Old Capitol Building (which is interesting) directly in front of the new capitol building (which is stupid).

Great idea for a thread! Here's the Phoenix Municipal court on the left, and City Hall on the right:

I took the picture while standing on a parking garage for government vehicles.

Thanks! That contrast between the pink flowers and yellow building is really nice in yours.

Here's a different sort of government building, built by the CCC in the 1930's. It's in South Mountain Park, which is the country's largest municipal park.

Good Thread!

Fine idea for a thread, Tom. We'll get to travel around, while sitting at home!
The Colorado State Capitol Building is undergoing a major overhaul, including gold plating on the dome. It's nearly done, here's two recent shots.
K-5, 50mm, CPL on the first one. Both ISO 80.

I like this thread- gives me a new subject for all the little towns I visit/drive through.

Here's a shot from a trip last summer: the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Washington DC.
