Well your shot is definitely a winner. Absolutely stunning.
Thanks a lot. I'm trying hard to develop my skills and eye; this one was a high point for me. It is great to hear what other people think, and amazing when they like it!

Great idea for a thread, and what a great picture to start it off with, even if some people don't think you blew it enough. Great stuff from everyone else, too.

This picture was kind of an accident. My camera tends to underexpose with the Super-Tak 50, so I always put in + exposure comp to fix it. One time, I put in way too much, and the pictures came out like this:

I kind of like the effect, though. It's like she's walking on sunshine.
Nice one, has a magical feel to it.

Thanks also for the kudos!

Agreed, I like it too! I seem to gravitate towards slight underexposure in my PP. Maybe I should try going brighter than I'm usually comfortable with for a while.
Thanks filoxophy, I appreciate the encouragement!

Looking forward to what you come up with.

Oh great, now I got that old song looping in my head the rest of the evening :-)

Nice shot though. I like the sun drenched look.

Darn it, I wasn't even thinking of that when I wrote it. I was trying to figure out why it sounded so cliché... Well, thanks for the compliment, and you're welcome for the earworm.

I blew out the city in this one. Hard not to, with only moonlight in the foreground, and millions of streetlights burning beyond. I don't think it's such a bad thing, either.

Thanks! Indeed it was, I deleted properly exposed photos, they were not as good as I expected.

Great idea for a thread. Having run out of new things to photo on the photo-a-day challenges I've been playing around with blown out exposures (versus flares). Firstly, by high keying "good photos", but then developing the confidence to deliberately blow out images using manual settings. Its fun trying to produce images that merge in with the white of the forum page.

Here are three attempts. The first is a silhouette that wouldn't have been possible without blow-out - I tried to do this first by post processing a "normally exposed" photo but it needed blow out. The second by a Macro Takumar 50/4 - mine is prone to blow out, and it can be used to good effect. The third is more conventional high key I guess....
