LBA Lurker Coming Out of Shadows

I've been included and trying to view most pics on the Monthly challenges group but kept missing the first of the month and given up despite the itch to just jump in regardless of date but never did. So this time, I am ready. With LBA, I bought a bunch of manual lenses but am going to be selling them(now have LSA - lens selling addiction =P) but before I do, I'm going to challenge myself to use them to the best of their ability and try to convince myself to keep them. I'm going to start with the heaviest ones, the SMC Takumar 400 f5.6 will be first. It can go to F45! and is decently sharp at f8 and pretty sharp around F11 I'm going to start cleaning it now so it will have a fighting chance against my DA 60-250 f4 with future purchase of HD 1.4x TC.

Alright, I think it's got to be the Vivitar/Promaster 50/1.7. It'll be the Promaster that I actually have on the camera, since the focus ring turns a little easier than the one on the Vivitar.

No further structure for this Single In challenge for me. Just going to focus on capturing moments, scenes, light, memories. <3

The A50/1.2 arrived today

First impressions are very positive indeed! It is one dense lens, and the size of the rear element is frightening. Wide open it seems to suck light into it and apart from some tiny internal dust flecks the glass is in great nick.

I can't wait for tomorrow....

PPing is always my worst favourite part of photography.. it feels like a chore.

And if anyone is interested, I've finally uploaded my photos from the 17th to the 30th:

17th 18th 19th 20th 21st 22nd 23rd 24th 25th 26th 27th 28th 29th 30th

99% of my PPing I do on my iPad, and it's much easier, quicker, and more enjoyable there. For most photos there are tools that do the job perfectly well without needing to resort to desktop programmes.

I'm still lurking, my June effort was p#$$ poor, I'll try harder with something manual this month. My internet access is pretty dismal ATM.

B-)

Hi folks,

Is it possible to participate using GX-10/GX-20 cameras? If yes, then I'm going to try this one with my Pentax K-135mm/2.5.

Cheers,
Felipe

Hi Felipe, as far as I'm concerned, I say welcome and go for it, given you're intending to use a Pentax lens.

@ everyone !!!! The opening paragraph to the Singles thread specifies <Pentax or Ricoh camera mounted with your choice of lens>. This is wording that I lifted from preceding monthly "set-er-uppers".

Perhaps it's time to amend this wording ..... with two goals in mind. To encourage Forum members to get out and take photographs, and to encourage the use of Pentax/Ricoh gear, be it camera and/or lens.

Therefore, I suggest that the challenge's aim be restated ...... to take and post one picture each day during the nominated month, where either the camera or the lens, or both, be of Pentax origin, provided the same lens is used throughout.

The usual flexibility over using safety shots and/or late posts due to ill health, work or travel commitments etc would continue.

I'm just one voice and a relative latecomer at that. What does everyone else think?

It's fine to me.
Let's see pentax glass quality on other cameras, maybe we'll see some participants using FA limiteds on Sony A7* cameras.
