Here's my attempt...

The goal was to create layers of colors (the dark shadows, the orange, the yellows) that direct the user's attention to the subject which are the high peaks...

Have just started to use LR and I hope it doesn't look too awful ...

Regards,
Vishal

Here's another version

Just for fun... here's another vertical crop version... I felt the color layers become a bit more prominent.

Vishal

Thank you, Adam, for giving us a fresh start! This medium format photo was a lot of fun to work with. Here is my edit with LR 5 and some free presets I've been wanting to try for a while.

So looking through all of these edits some are great, and some are funny, but everything is kinda expected. And that was how I started out aswell, but after slipping with the color balance it kinda looked like Mars, and I decided to go nuts with it... So I took the picture apart, all the green bushes were turned into a dark menacing red, as was the sky, and the ground was burned to better suit the lighting conditions, Was unsecure about what color of clouds you would expect at mars though so I guessed a bit.

And once I went red, the step to infrared is really not that long. So why not I said and did one of those too.

These are both quick jobs so there is a quite few flaws once you give it a scrutinizing look.

And just to be boring, I present a "normal" picture aswell

I decided to flip the image because I wanted the first impression of the picture to be the "stone sculpture" So I wanted that at the upper right thirds crossing (atleast roughly) and I wanted the lines, the mountain in the background and the stones in the foreground to form the beginning of a triangle. And I wanted to keep as much of the mountains in the background as possible, and everything after the lonely peak was uninterresting, So I cropped the picture there, unfortunatley this meant that I had a line in the foreground going across the image... Cropping vertically like vishalv is probably the way to go with this picture.

Added one more element(water)

Thought of adding water to the beauty. Hope it'll enhance its elegance. I'd to compromise with the sharpness

Without the Water reflection

The processed image without Water reflection. Played on LR4 with my little knowledge.

I went with a Hollywood filter
Very cute, but for this scene I'd have expected the Road Runner and Willy Coyote
