I didn't say it would be easy. Not only would capturing the earthshine without motion blur be a challenge, but I might have to contend with light bleeding over from the overexposed sunlit side.

Those 500mm mirrors can be a tricky beast to nail focus. Are you using a tripod and timer?

Tripod, remote shutter release, 12 second selfie delay.
I did see when testing the lens if you just breathe it shakes the image on a good heavy tripod

Yes, that sounds right. My 55-300mm zoom on my K-5 body has the equivalent focal length as a 450mm lens, so it's also very sensitive to vibrations.

Not quite a Super Moon; the day before if I recall correctly. I just remember it was totally overcast on the night of the Super Moon.
