My record of the total lunar eclipse on November 8, 2022. The moon set while it was still in totality.
Taken with a Pentax K-5 and a HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR lens at 300 mm.

Thanks for all the details, Mossy. Impressive workflow to produce an excellent image full of detail. Good to know that the rabbit hole for true astrophotography technique goes very deep and offers so many possibilities.

I am at the complete other end of the experience spectrum and made my first ever composite image last week of the full moon rising over the McDowell Mountains. The outskirts of north Scottsdale go right up to the base of the mountains and the views from Phoenix are awesome if you can get some elevation (I took this from close to the top of Mummy Mountain). K1-II + DA*300mm uncropped.
Well done ! Love the composition!

Very nice shot. I love the way it is framed.

FA* 300 on my Sony A7Riii using Monster LA-KE1 adapter. Tripod was a Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 and I had my Sirui 40x Head on it.

For a 300mm that is a nice moon shot.

Thanks. I often use a teleconverter and the 60-250 or 300 as my main moon lens. Sometimes I use the f 1.7x.

Perhaps not quite what you're looking for, but certainly in line with the thread title...

So was a teleconverter in the mix for that one? For a naked 300 that is an impressive amount of detail. I usually use the A*400 plus A 2X-L converter (sometimes the A 1.4X-L).
