No that’s just the fa* alone on my Sony a7riii. I’ve been hoping for another clear night to use my KP which has a higher pixel density (the a7riii only puts 18mp in the same sensor area as the 24mp of the KP, and the moon in this image is much smaller than the sensor area of even an apsc sensor. )

I went out to Topsail Beach Friday morning to hopefully catch the twilight colors and the sunrise, due at 7:14AM. I did not realize that the moon was rising that morning at 6:21 AM, 2.9% waning and was pleasantly shocked when it appeared above the horizon. These are a couple of the shots I got, both with the KP and DA 55-300PLM using a tripod.

Great serendipity- and skillful captures.

That is impressive. I am very familar with how small the moon is with a 300 alone, even on APS-C, as I shot it a lot with my original K-3 and the Sigma 300/4 APO tele macro. You must of had a fairly smooth atmosphere when shooting, low wind speed and temp changes through the atmosphere. I say that as usually when I am shooting with my 400 I can see the moving atmospheric distortions slightly and they are always clear as day when I include the 2X-L converter in the mix.

I agree it was a very nice night for seeing. I wish I had the foresight to take some shots with the KP and also the 1.4x.

Moonrise over Staple Tor last night. Around here there's usually only or two times a year that the sky will be this clear at full moon.

Handheld with the Lumix TZ70. One of those times when you're glad you've always got a superzoom compact with a 720mm equivalent lens in your pocket.

Saturday morning the waning crescent moon was due to rise about the same time as the start of Nautical Twilight, about an hour before the sunrise. I was fortunate enough that the clouds were low over the Ocean, and once the moon cleared it looked spectacular.
