Pretty detailed for a zoom wide open !! I think you could safely stop down to f8 or past that - Moon is very bright and you should be OK with stop lower.
Thanks for posting !

That's what I think, too. I'm pretty happy with that lens :-)

My best

Kx on a Tasco 6" reflector, I had to make a shorter focuser to get the camera into 'prime focus'.

LOCATION : Australia , Melbourne suburbs
DATE : 4th Oct 2014
CAMERA : Pentax K-x
LENS : Tasco 6" Reflector telescope with modified focuser
SETTINGS : ISO 100, 1/160, f8, Equatorial mount with tracking + 2-sec

The focuser was made from a piece of wood and some plastic plumbing fittings.

Great stuff and clearly shows why even a cheap name-brand telescope is worth buying. I'm interested in what process you use to get polar alignment in the Southern Hemisphere as I'm struggling to work out what to buy right now.

This is a fairly simple guide for Oz. https://www.myastroshop.com.au/guides/polar-align-basic.pdf
