When looking through some old files tonight while experimenting with some post processing, I came across the very first PEF's I shot on my K100D. Not only my first RAW images on that camera, but my first attempts at any night sky shots on that camera.

I'm posting this moon shot not because the shot is particularly outstanding, but more for the story behind it. I've also posted an image from where the shot was taken just to set the scene.

December 2010 lunar eclipse, -30 C, K100D with 50-200 on a tripod. No cable release - trying various exposures using manual, timer or auto-focus - while pulling my hand out of a snowmobile mitten to trigger the shutter.

First images I took were at 9:38 PM, last at 12:28 AM local time. According to the Pentax manual, the low end of the operating temperature range for the K100D is 0 C, and I was using Eneloops for batteries.

When I look back on it now, not sure it was worth all the effort but I learned some things and I got an image.
