Great shots, taks. We had clear skies tonight as well, and we all got a good look (but without cameras!). Thanks for taking the photos for us

Last night the moonrise was at the same time as sunset, so I went out with a planned shot in mind (thanks to Photographer's Ephemeris). We'd had clear skies all day, but it started clouding over about an hour before moonrise and I didn't get a single shot.

Happened to wake up at about 5.15am and saw the beautiful deep red eclipse through the window, but didn't go out to take any photos because the angle wasn't right for any interesting foreground.

Then this morning the moonset was about the same time as sunrise, and I had another planned shot in mind. This time there was clearing cloud cover, but with the moon fully hidden until after it set.

It's now about twenty minutes after moonset, the last of the clouds have cleared, and it's a beautiful sunny morning. So it goes.

my attempt from last night...

SMC-K 300mm f4 at f5.6, ISO 1600, 1sec, on K-5. Taken in the freezing air on my patio. A bit of shake from the wind, or my camera shivering from the cold.

Very nice results.

Moonrise and then the eclipse. I wanted to get something other than the same old moon shot. I'm not super excited about the results but that's just how it goes sometimes.

I hear ya. Can't argue with mother nature The opposite happened this time though. There were cloud cover all day and forecast was also cloudy but it changed the last minute. I wasn't planning on going out but with name like "Super Blood Wolf moon total eclipse", I had to check it out I messed up, didn't realize I left the M mode in JPEG only

Sorry, it means a scope, 66mm diameter of the objective, and 400mm focal lenght, making it an f/6 system.

Trying the recently arrived Pentax-A 300 with the DA 1.4 AW + K-3 (strange things happening on exif data: not sure the real aperture is reported).
Anyway, here is a sample handled (with some sharpening on DCU5).
