High clouds for tonight's blue moon. I'll try again tonight when it's higher in the sky.

Very nice!
My plan last night didn't work out. Tall mountains made the moon rise after it was too dark for the kind of shot I was hoping for.
Glad I got out the previous night and did better then. Being a day or even two early here helps a lot with our high altitude horizons.
Yes, I'm sure you need that sunlight in the mountains, the moon is way to bright on its own. I worked quickly to get several comps before the light from the sun had faded. Of course I was able to get the sun setting to on flat land and water, but it was a dud with a totally clear sky around it. I never knew so much about moon phases and rising times before I started trying to shoot moonrises. I always forget about the moon setting in the morning, I haven't studied that as much. I would take your shot from the night before in a heartbeat, it's a winner.

Yeah the light goes fast here. I've always liked the moon and astronomy but photography has rekindled my interest for sure. I find myself realizing it's soon to be a full moon and feeling like I have to make a plan!

Since I started following this thread and tried my hand at photographing the moon, I've become more aware of its phases and rising and setting times. One notable setting time I've observed is when it sets over New Haven at the end of the night when it is full. The juxtaposition of the lunar disk and the New Haven skyline is quite striking during the twilight time just before sunrise. However, I've yet to try photographing this because the best views of this phenomenon are from the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, one of the busiest stretches of highway in Connecticut.

Well there was too much wind on Friday to pull off the pixel shift moon shots so I did a stack at 300mm:

My almost full moon shot from 10-30-2020
445 images were stacked.
There was a fair amount of humidity so I finally captured some glow when exposing for the moon

445x1/100s
ISO 100
f/8

Camera: K-3ii
Lens Sigma 300mm f/4 APO Macro

Just a hand-held moon photo from this summer - I liked the clouds.
K3 II with the DA* 300mm, ƒ/5.0 1/30 ISO3200
I guess a lower iso and a tripod could have been worthwhile, but this was the chance I got.

Lovely sharp image. Based on the results that RedBoomer got in his frogmount thread in the link below, I wonder if using the 1.4 converter gives you more resolution than cropping. I have a teleconverter, but I never really got around to using it after some initially disappointing tests.

Here's another moonscape from this summer. I like moonscapes, but this time of year there isn't much light to play with. K3II with the DA* 300mm, ƒ/8.0,1/1000, ISO250

Those moon shots really have me thinking that I should check 300mm prices this Black Friday.

Thanks ecostigny. It is without comparison my favorite lens. I'm usually carrying two houses - one with the 300mm and one with something in the wide-to.normal focal lenght range. The 300mm is for birds, mainly, but I end up shooting all sorts of other things as well.
