What the second photographer lacks in looks, he makes up for with his taste in cameras!
The first one does have better technique though.

She's using the OVF down at the subject's level for a better perspective and using a longer FL for a more flattering portrait. She has better fashion sense to.

the poor Pentax guy is using his (K-30?) live-view at arms length and i also notice my personal favourite(not) , the good old reversed hood technique.

Still quite useful in avoiding any "back light" situation problems ...

Human Monopod

The lassie was hanging on to him and just thought really funny that I was photographing them, as you can see from her face.

It turns out, they were a charming couple from Australia doing their Scottish "Roots" thing and having a brilliant time while doing it.

What first caught my eye was the fact this lassie was carrying a tripod, which she then subsequently put down for each shot as it was getting in the way.
She has terrible fashion-sense too.

Though probably would cost less to replace if he had to ditch the bike due to a mishap.

I expect it's only used for filming very short bursts, both time and distance wise. With a street closed off for filming and all vehicles moving in a known pattern, keeping your eyes on the live view screen would be doable.

(Of course, it's also possible that he doesn't even have the screen on. If it's meant to give a POV shot, the focus could just be set to a certain distance and then you have him go through the paces a few times to get enough footage.)

I whiffed on the exposure (that tungsten Shanghai sky is a killer) but I got a kick out of the crowds in People's Square taking pictures of the lotuses while under the baleful gaze of the Marriott:

Compared to other reports from tourist sites around the globe, though, it did seem Pentax is holding its own with Canikon here.
