well the hand is in the correct position ( I think ) but what about keeping that eye open - especially near potentially dangerous wild life ????

[ I was photographing a herd of bison (buffalo) possibly too close to me ]

I was using my K 5 II + HD Pentax-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

Not necessarily. Cows can be extremely docile and gentle creatures and are very inquisitive. I wouldn't be surprised if all he got was a good licking!

Bulls on the other hand are a different matter, some I have known were as docile as cows, others I wouldn't trust even if there was a strong fence between us!

"can be"

Judging by the shape and set of the horns and the overall size the animal in the photo is female and therefore relatively harmless. Generally the only time Highland cattle would get upset is if you were being a direct threat to their young.

Well then, you're kicked off the forum. Read the forum rules, it's a prerequisite. Rule 85.1 subsection 2. People without familiarity with cows will be excluded from all and any use of the forum.

Or was that familiarity with pigs, I really can't remember. Oh well, it was some farm animal. Maybe chickens.
