Here is my thought. I think the left part really cannot show up things that is interesting. The boat is too quiet so I just remove that part. I enhanced the kayak part, including enhancing the details and increase the highlight of that part of the water.

A B&W attempt with the bridge effectively rebuilt by edge aware burning and imagination to give some focus to the mid right skyline

This shot was taken at one of the lesser known vantage point for Sydney skyline,
I'm trying to get the light right - taken from Bradley's Head with Fort Denison "under" the bridge?

You have a week to do whatever you like with it, that's up to 8th October
Up to and including the 8th for final submissions?

Close but not close enough it's from across the harbour near Hermit Bay, Vaucluse. It's not the best vantage point I have to say, Opera House is partly obscured by Garden Island. Bradley's Head would give you a better view of the Opera House though.

And yes, including the 8th

Done in Camera Raw: +2.5 exposure! Split toning (red for shadows, blue for highlights), added Vignetting and grain, and other smaller adjustments.

It's actually fascinating how people use crop to emphasis differently elements in the image, a lot of great ideas on show here

Played around for a while, cropped it, cloned out a few elements, decided to convert it to black and white with Silver Efex for a "dreamy," vintage feel (I would lose the border if it wasn't so late).

A color and monochrome - take your pick.

The color one I tried to get as much detail, tone and color info as I could out of the RAW file. I especially tried to bring out detail in the shadows and get rid of the "muddiness" in the original. I took some liberty with this file and simplified and removed what I thought was small extraneous detail that added nothing to the final image so it's not technically accurate to the original. This is not a military recon photo. Mostly I was going for feel not accuracy. Sorry about the banding but its just a jpg after all. Had to compress more than I wanted to meet forum posting limits.

The monochrome was more of an afterthought - just wanted to see what it would look like. Cropped only vertically to preserve the panorama.
