Post Processing Challenge #123

Thanks for wildman for hosting last week's Post Processing Challenge #122, sorry I didn't check so I guess I am a bit late starting the challenge this week, but anyway here it is.

This shot was taken at one of the lesser known vantage point for Sydney skyline, nothing fancy but maybe a bit of PP can help?

You have a week to do whatever you like with it, that's up to 8th October whichever time zone you are in.

I will get the result in by the weekend.

Good luck and have fun!

This is my take on it... this is how I would do it for myself.

It was hard to decide which way to process this image. It is very user friendly to playing with the PP sliders.

Great shot.

Great shot! It makes for a great panorama but other folks were doing that as well so I challenged myself to try something different because it's really nice to have some variation in a thread like this. It's very tempting to push the global ajustments (too) far, so I tried to keep those edits as subtle as possible. I tried out a hidden gem in Photoshop called the 'color lookup' ajustment layer, made a sepperate hue and luminosity layer(the LUT I chose would blow out the hightlights quite a bit otherwise). I like to use levels and cuves for local edits and I made two subtle content aware edits.

My attempt
Some tweaking in LR5 + Some crazy film simulation in DxO Film Pack 4, then finish crop in 2*3 in LR5

A bit of cropping and tiny bit of play to the first variation !

Here is my contribution. A few changes in lightroom and then I moved the surfer* a bit in photoshop just because I wanted the panoramic crop with the horzon on the lower horizontal line but at the same time I felt that the picture needed something in the foreground.

*I know that it isn't a surfer but I don't have the faintest idea what a cross between a gondoler and a surfer is called gonfer perhaps?
