Almost time for the parrots, the fruit is just starting to form on the loquat tree. Not sure exactly which "conure" this one is, the nomenclature of these birds is very disorganized, it may be a "cherry head" or a "red cheek", or something else altogether. Anyway, huge flocks of them (and other parrots) are naturalized here, and in winter they show up like clockwork late in the afternoon to make a noisy mess eating loquats.

Might be my best shots of one of those yet. Don't see them often. Squirrels show up daily for hours, but the birds must have some other places to go.

Thanks Rod. Actually I am sick of the corellas bullying other birds - but they are photogenic and entertaining.

Troika:

Couldn't resist this trio of Starlings. Taken through a bus window with the 16-85. Came out better than I expected.

Nice capture! A number of users say the PLM isn't as good at 300mm, but I see nothing to complain about in this shot.

This was pretty close (maybe 3m?) - resolution at that distance is fine. At 300mm there's a certain distance (or more accurately, subject size in the frame) where the limitations become apparent and I wish I had the FA*300 mounted, but IMO it's as good as you could reasonably expect for a consumer zoom. Frankly I can't see a difference in resolution between say 260mm and 300mm (the advantage of backing off to 260mm is to get f5.6 rather than f6.3).
