Is it just me, or does this American robin look like it has a pompadour??

Red Wattlebirds. KP + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm.



The bird on the lower branch in the second one is a Little Wattlebird. The Reds spend half their time chasing the Littles, but they had a temporary truce to watch for predators, with Currawongs and a young Collared Sparrowhawk hanging around.

Man! Gotta love the plumage texture of those Wattlebirds--just gives the AF so much...grip!

Ha, Dave - the AF test chart bird! The KP managed to nail focus in the first one despite the foliage.
