Shame that they are so easily scared away, they are so much more beautiful than the black and white they let us see before taking off

Thank you. Yes they are really striking. The scientific name is Zoothera lunulata. Lunulata means "little moons", a reference to the crescents all over it. As camouflage it works surprisingly well - they stand very still and are hard to see.

K-3 and DA*200 with HD DA 1.4TC

I went out with the DA*200 and 1.4. Only 280mm,, so these are the guys whoo don't mind me getting close. I wasn't even in the blind, I just walked up to them.

There's a second one that came around, I didn't get pictures but maybe soon. It's smaller and lighter in colour.
