My sister called me a hoser once, in a bar in Cincy. Patrons found out we were Canadain (thanks to my cousin) and insisted we talk Canadian. I don't think hoser is a Canadian term, it may have been a term local to Scarborough where the guys who played Doug and Bob were from.

I once had a physician named Patricia Hose. I told her if we got married she'd be Patricia Hose-Head. She said, "I think I'd just keep my maiden name."

I have family in Cincy which is near Indiana. People from Indiana are called hoosiers. I wonder if that is what they meant.

A little sparrow was helping clean the patio. I'll have to assume this was his way of thanking for the seeds.

I live in the Hoosier state, but I'm a Boilermaker

Today I was out in the blind out with the K-1, Tamron 300 and Tamorn TC for (drum roll), 600mm ƒ5.6
First thing, it was really nice to have AF on the 300 as opposed to the partial AF of the 1.7x
Second, I was dying to try it out, but the light wasn't good and I ended up shooting at 3200 ISO. The noise was so bad I couldn't really evaluate the lens. Tomorrow at 400 ISO will be better. The oversample was such, you probably won't notice either noise or loss of detail.

Tomorrow a retest with lower ISO, and some K-3 shots. The K-3 with it's higher pixel density should provide a better idea of the sharpness of the combo.

The rest of those who were present.

Todays crop..... K-3 and Tamron SP AF 300 2.8 and Tamron 2x Pz-AF BBAR MC7
Still testing the Tamon AF 2x TC
It doesn't report the FL reporting it as 300mm, even though it's a Tamron lens and Tamron TC meaning the Shake Reduction will not be properly calibrated. There is no way to correct this in the menus as the FL entry is greyed out.. Neither does it report the correct f-stop. You need to add two stops to the reported f-stop. Yet you have to under-expose -2 EV to get the correct exposure.

After a scecond day, it's not looking good. I suspect I get better from the 300 and 1.4. The biggest things being slower inaccurate auto-focus and much narrower DoF. I still haven't decided it's something I want to use it.

There've been dozens of wax wings in a tree way down the hill--too far away but irresistible. This is a 1mp crop [K-3, Sigma 500/4.5 & 1.4x TC]

Do these count? These four ducklings came straddling into my house yesterday! From who knows where, and why. Took them to the local SPCA this morning.

And a portrait shot
